18th November, 1888 — Sterling Residence, Bartonburg
Getting married already felt like a terrible decision, like some sort of nightmare festival ride he couldn't get off from, and he'd only been engaged for a few days. But it would get easier, he told himself, once everyone knew, once the dust settled in a month or two. It would. It had to.

Once everyone knew. The family knew, alright, so really that was the worst of it through. Public interest was both far less likely and far less daunting, to be perfectly honest; both he and Miss Tweedy were sheltered most often by the hospital's walls and the never-ending reams of work to do. He always was grateful for work.

But he was not at work now. The weekend had blown away into Sunday evening before he even knew it, and he found himself whiling the last few hours of his evening away at a friend's house. Ben's house. They were friends again. Close friends, like normal. Had been since he'd come back; the familiarity had returned by full measures along with the bulk of Ben's memories, and they had fallen back into a version of before Ari had scarcely dared hope for. He was more cautious now, about feeling anything - or, at least, he meant to be - but he was grateful, too, at how easy it was to be around Ben again like this. An unending relief.

It was just the two of them here, tonight, but as far as Ari could tell, he was the only one even capable of sensing the ghosts of then in this same room, the once-shattered glass and boiling fear and the horror etched into Ben's face. Ben now looked lively and laidback and oblivious; just the way he was meant to.

Ari almost didn't want to ruin it.

But he had to tell his friends sometime, too. "Hey," he said, setting his glass down on the nearest surface to resist the urge to fidget. He looked across at Ben, quirking his mouth into half a grin. "I have something to tell you."

A long time ago (2015? I think?) we had a Google Doc called "Ships of Secrecy" in which people could anonymously list the characters they secretly ship without having to openly reveal it to the world. It was a lot of fun from what I remembered and I recently came across the document in my archive of lost and forgotten Google Docs, so started a new one :P

Click HERE to add all the pairings you secretly ship :P <3

25th November, 1888 — Magical Bugs Office
Finnian Byrne
In the long period of declining weather and darkening nights that categorised the portion of the year that stretched between All Hallow’s Eve and Yuletide Belle, along with many of her colleagues, often found herself confined to her office during any moment that could be construed of as being free. It was not free of course. Instead it was taken up with a seemingly endless stream of paperwork that covered everything from the end of year expenses report to the upswing in injuries and maladies across every department of the hospital that inevitably came when people were inside with too much time on their hands.

Merlin, she bloody hated November.

Sitting in her office on one such afternoon, nursing a rapidly cooling cup of tea and ignoring the patter of rain against the window behind her, Belle was very quickly becoming irritated with what she was reading. People couldn’t help becoming ill, but did they have to be so reckless with their health? A rap at the door caught her attention but, anticipating it would be one of the tearoom staff bringing her something undoubtedly lacklustre to eat she didn’t look up as she permitted them entry.

“I’ve told the Matron time and time again, if I wanted to eat I’d-“ She looked up, her words dying as she noticed her visitor was not wearing a pinafore or wielding a tea trolley. Feeling a flutter of surprise run through her Belle gave him a smile and carefully laid down her report. “Mr Byrne, whatever brings you here? I do hope you’re not unwell?” She highly doubted it by the look of him; in fact, somehow, he looked stronger and brighter than he had the last time she had seen him.

Leonid Fisk | Brother | 1861
Xena Fisk | Sister | 1861
Dorian Fisk | Brother | 1864
Nemo Fisk | Brother | 1866
@"Zelda Fisk" | Sister | 1868

Appearance: 5’10. Neat and tidy at all times. Rarely smiles. Dark hair. Blue eyes. Lean build. There is an elegance to his movement though that is little expected and he casts spells with a flourish.

History:
1857: Konstantin is born the fourth child and third son of Brannon and Delia Fisk. At the time of his birth his mother is reading Anna Karenina which accounts for his slightly unusual name, and a burden he shares with his siblings.

1864: Konstantin shows his first sign of magic when he levitates himself off the ground without so much as stealing his oldest brother's broom. The following year he tries to save Leo from breaking his arm whilst they are playing but it does no good. Though Leo is far from permanently damaged it leaves Kons wishing he had known what to do and thus installs a desire to learn firmly in him.

1868: Kons receives his Hogwarts letter and is forced to sit on the sorting hat’s stool for eight full minutes as it debates between Ravenclaw and Slytherin, eventually settling on the latter. He is neither popular nor lonely and instead creates a small group of friends around himself and enjoys his schooling a great deal.

1872-1873: In his fifth years Kons is inevitably made Slytherin prefect and, studiously ignoring how much he fancies the fifth year girl he is forced to notice for the first time, he acquits his duty as responsibly as any teacher could wish for, whilst also doing extremely well in all his OWLS. Nerd.

1874-1875: Equally inevitable is Kons’ elevation to Head Boy, a role he takes on with all the humility of Caesar hosting a Triumph. It does not earn him more friends. He graduates the following summer with high marks, barring an average result in Herbology due to a sleepless night before his exam, and he immediately joins the Ministry of Magic, determined to get on as soon as possible. He finds a job as an intern in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, a role he thrives in.

1876: He becomes a clerk in the Department.

1877-1879: Rising quickly through the ranks Konstantin is promoted to being a junior lawyer and within two years he becomes a fully fledged lawyer in the Department.

1884: After five years of hard work a position opens in the Minister's personal office as the Junior Assistant and he secures the job with ease, knowing it is likely a step backwards professionally but with the right connections his next step up could be a considerable one. He is elated, thrilled at the possibility of working directly with the similarly youthful Minister, however, disaster strikes when a month later the Minister is found dead. Though he still has his job, Konstantin is very aware that the next incumbent in the role could be anybody.

1884: Fortunately for Konstantin, and wizarding society at large, the next Minister is Balthazar Urquart, with whom he quickly develops an excellent working relationship that develops into a genuine friendship.

1885: When the previous incumbent departs the following year Konstantin becomes Senior Undersecretary to the Minister, an impressive position for someone not yet thirty. He is also admitted to the Wizengamot.

1887: After a tumultuous few years the Minister is forced to resign and Konstantin decides to leave with him, instead turning his hand to managing the campaign of his brother-in-law, Justin Ross. They are successful in their endeavour and Ross becomes Minister, elevating Konstantin to being the Assistant Head of Magical Law Enforcement, a position he may have obtained by now anyway, but without the excellent connections he sought to see him through the oncoming years...

1888: Next step: a wife.

Personality: Extremely hardworking by nature. Conscientious and dedicated. Ambitious and determined to get on in life. Wants to be the most outstanding of his siblings and believes he has the capacity for it. Not an unpleasant man at all but a reserved one. Potentially a future romantic.

Other:
+ The Fisks are Jewish.
+ Konstantin remains a staunch supporter of Balthazar Urquart as a friend.
+ He managed his brother-in-law’s successful campaign for Minister of Magic.
+ He is a previous duelling champion and will tell literally anybody about this.

Out-of-Character
Name: Lauren.
Age: 28.

Hello, 'tis I! Your friendly neighborhood Norwegian.

I'm a 21 year old biology student from Norway, things to know about me is that I'm a giant fantasy and sci-fi nerd. I spend most my time reading books, playing video games (Frostpunk has recently stolen my attention), and I've got a weekly date with Dungeons and Dragons on Mondays. I'm also pretty big science nerd, as witnessed by the fact I study biology, and I will at regular intervals shout about anything biology related, especially anything involving marine biology. (I'm just saying that the wolffish is clearly the most beautiful fish.)

In terms of characters and tropes I'm always a sucker for those good old rogues. As evidenced by the fact that the Gentlemen Bastard series and the Six of Crows duology are some of my favorite books, though the position of favorite fantasy series is held by Discworld, and my favorite rogue has to be Moist Von Lipwig. I also tend to roll along with any plots and I'm not afraid to have my characters get into lots of trouble that can end quite badly for them.

I look forward to writing with all you lovely people!

November 24th, 1888 - MacKay/Walsh Residence
Conall MacKay

It had been a little over two weeks since Eva had finally plucked up the nerve to talk with Fletcher about her future likelihood of having children and it had gone surprisingly well- maybe a little too well, not that she was complaining. That thought brought a little blush to her cheeks and had her biting her lip at the memory. It wasn't that she'd ever doubted him, she would never doubt him now, but she'd really wanted to gauge for herself, firsthand, just how important it was to him to eventually have children. It wasn't very upsetting for her, which was probably strange for a woman her age, already past her 'prime' for things like marriage and babies, but Eva had never truly envisioned herself a mother anyway. She had plenty of babies; bird babies, creature babies, grown man-children; she wasn't lacking in things to care for or demands on her time.

Speaking of her grown man-child, Eva had yet to talk to him about all of this, though that was more of a cowardly move on her part, as she had no idea how Conall was going to react to any of this. Her gut reaction was that it would go poorly, but she had to hold out a little hope that he would see that she was happy and that was what mattered, right? Thankfully, when she'd approached Mrs. Sweeney about making one of his favorite dishes for dinner that night, something she hadn't  had in a while herself, her housekeeper was more than happy to oblige. Hopefully it would help to soften him up a little. Eva hadn't any idea where Una or Tierney were tonight, but she was kind of thankful it would just be the two of them for dinner, far less awkward without other people listening in.

It was all laid out on the little kitchen table shortly after she'd gotten home from the zoo, exhaustion creeping into her bones, but knowing if she didn't do it tonight, it would take her a while to gather the courage again. Having been the first to enter the kitchen, she sank gratefully into her chair and poured herself a small measure of whiskey. It certainly wouldn't help with the exhaustion but it would help take the edge off. The door swung open just as she started to take a sip and she passed him a tired smile over the rim of her own glass. "Hello Da, how was your day?" Oh Merlin this was terrifying!
