Giving herself a good mental shake, Anne squared her shoulders and approached her target, her face forgetting it was meant to smile. "Hunter." Anne acknowledged with a nod only; manners absolutely on display this evening. "Good to see you." Anne looked as thrilled to see her friend as she might during a punishment.

Step on my toes, and you're dead
Giving herself a good mental shake, Anne squared her shoulders and approached her target, her face forgetting it was meant to smile. "Hunter." Anne acknowledged with a nod only; manners absolutely on display this evening. "Good to see you." Anne looked as thrilled to see her friend as she might during a punishment.
Benedict had enjoyed his dance with Millie and was looking around at the other girls he might dance with. He suprised himself how many of the girls he could count as friends and felt he would have no problem securing perfectly acceptable dance matches for the whole evening, even if he mostly just wished to continue his first dance.
He found himself approached by Miss Moony, dressed for the occassion in a skin, that from the look on her face at least, was not her own. "Moony..." he replied in the similar manner that she addressed him, he respected her straight forward mannerisms. Ben's greeting though carried with it a bright and welcoming smile. "You look beautiful tonight, I assume you are having the most magical time." his assessment of her apearance was sincere but his emphasis was placed carefully on the word magical to poke a little friendly fun at how un-Anne this scene was.
"And to what do I owe this honour? I had hoped I might trouble you for a dance?" he held his hand out to her in a gentlemanly way.

Anne knew the dancing would happen, she was resigned to that, but it didn't make the offer of Ben's hand any less daunting. Anne looked at his hand the way some first years looked at their brooms for the first time. There was a distinct chance she was going to die in the next minutes, wasn't there?
"We've got to talk, you and me. And," she sighed and managed to look some version of prepared. "Yeah, let's dance." And, as she took his hand, Anne added, "Step on my toes, and you're dead."
Benedict was pleased that Anne took his hand but he was just a little concern about her intent. "That sounds ominous" he chuckled nervously as she made it clear. What on earth could she mean, he did have a pretty good idea, she was friendly to him, but it was always tempered by her protectiveness of Millie.
He placed his other hand around the girl's waist and began to dance, she was taller than Millie, and he expected he might have to work a little harder to lead given Anne's distain for dancing. "I shall bear that in mind." he nodded "What would you like to discuss? I hear they are releasing a new skysweeper broom model." he offered as they began to move around the dance floor together closely.

Satisfied she could count steps in her head and participate in a warning conversation, Anne's eyes were back to Ben. She chose her words carefully, remembering their surroundings. "You aren't going to hurt her or damage her reputation." It wasn't a question and Anne wasn't convinced there was need for feedback. He'd protect Mills or she'd find a way to hex him off his broom. Didn't seem unreasonable to Anne.
Benedict smiled at the slight awkwardness while dancing of the usually unflappable Anne Moony, the academic queen of her year was human after all. Of course he knew what this conversation was going to be about.
He heard her words, was it a conversation, or a warning. There was no note of an inflection that would indicate that what Anne was saying was a question and he grinned again, exactly as he would expect from her. "Your friends are lucky to have someone like you in their corner. But no, I have no intention of doing either. I dont know if you quite understand how much she means to me."
He didnt allow Anne to continue before spinning her, making sure to lead this dance and treat her like the lady she wasnt quite sure she wanted to be, but he hoped she would at least have fun with him before he drew her back in closer to him to continue the dance. "I am aware of the slight precocious nature of the situation. I respect you looking out for her, for us both, I guess." he gave a very miscevious grin. If she had genuinely wanted rid of him, he would be gone, so there must be a glimmer of support in her mind.
