One of the cheapest homeless shelters in Victorian London charged four pennies to sleep in a coffin. Which was... still better than sleeping upright against a rope? — Jordan / Lynn
If he was being completely honest, the situation didn't look good, but Sylvano was not in the habit of being completely honest about anything. No reason to start now.

Every little sound Ahn-Bo-ah made was always a delight to Jin, but now more than ever they were reminders that he was back to (semi) normal after being embodied by a figurative gwishin. Jin didn’t even want to think how shallow and empty his aein had looked yesterday when they’d first seen one another. He obviously hadn’t been eating or sleeping well, or doing much of anything except torturing himself, and a quick bath with one good meal would not undo months of anguish but— every little hum or smile or laugh was another step in the right direction. And Jin was perfectly content to help Ahn-Bo along however he could, but especially if it meant just laying with him and being close.

The answer that followed made Jin raise a brow. He hadn’t expected a full blown adventure to explore the local landmarks but… they should definitely get some fresh air at some point. Take a walk, maybe. But ‘just this’ was good enough for now. (Maybe after he used the restroom.) Smiling brightly as Ahn-Bo tugged him closer, Jin hummed. “Just this is nice,” he agreed. At some point they should probably eat too, but if Bo-ah wasn’t hankering, Jin certainly wasn’t going to press him. He wasn’t starving either. “I like… just taking care of you,” he admitted with a slight flush. (It hadn’t sounded so stupid in his head as it did aloud.) Moving one hand to tug Ahn-Bo’s own towards him though, Jin traced the thread he’d knotted there appreciatively. “It looks like it worked,” he smiled, nodding at the thread. “Did you sleep alright?” Perhaps it was a little belated to ask the question, but he didn’t mean it as a mere pleasantry. Jin was actually curious to know. He meant it that he liked looking after Bo-ah. Honestly, if he could have spent the rest of his days just fussing and following, he’d have been perfectly alright with that. And maybe, now, he’d have to— to some degree. (Not that he was particularly pleased that it had to be in this way.)

Ahn-Bo Jeong
Jin’s agreement was easy enough. That is how they would spend the day then, cuddled up in bed. It was a nice change being able to think about the hours ahead of him without dread or emptiness. It would be a good day today because he was with Jin-a. That’s all he needed, really. Although now that he had been awake for a bit, the other necessity was more prevalent. He didn’t particularly want to tell his friend to just walk away from the cave a bit and pick a spot to use as the restroom… but maybe it was obvious already? Given his living conditions and all?

The trail of embarrassed thinking was interrupted by the vampire’s confession. His heart skipped a beat, the corner of his mouth quirking the slightest bit. ”Oh?” was all he had had a chance to respond with before his aein pressed on, the slight flush giving his own embarrassment away. Ahn-Bo would have liked to explore that topic in far more detail—there had been many times where he’d taken care of Jin-a over the years. Subtly, of course. Like the warming spell for the scarf he’d given (and allowed Jin to think he’d stolen for his own.) Bringing little gifts back for him whenever they returned from a holiday. Not that Jin-a hadn’t returned the care. He’d done that tenfold. But it had never been like this… they’d never had the opportunity at Maho.

His gaze fell to the thread in question, softening at the hopefulness he’d seen in Jin’s expression. ”Better than I have been,” he affirmed. It hadn’t been a perfect night’s sleep, but it hadn’t been full of nightmares. That he could remember, at least. But it wasn’t because of some silly string that had been tied around his wrist (sweet as the sentiment was.) ”Because you were here with me.” And then, because he knew his cheeks would pinken right along with the vampire’s, he asked, ”How did you sleep?”

The prompt to elaborate indicated curiosity at his statement and Jin flushed warmer. It felt silly to admit aloud, but he was comforted by the fact that Ahn-Bo smiled about it. He’d never realized before, but he always felt more at ease when he knew for certain that the handsome quidditch player was taken care of: full belly, sleeping properly, no aches and pains, emotionally balanced. He hadn’t had a plethora of opportunities to influence most of those things at Majo, but wherever he did Jin had always done his best to assist. Bo-ah too, in return, and it had just become their way. Now though, with everything out of balance, he realized how useful he felt setting things back to rights. At least the easy, mundane things; the rest would take time. “Ne,” Jin confirmed lightly. (He’d have done well in the apothecary, he realized, and the ache in that thought made his chest hurt.)

Brushing past it quickly, Jin pulled Bo-ah’s hand towards him and smiled about the thread. He was glad to hear that Ahn-Bo was sleeping better than before. He did feel the warmth in his cheeks heat a bit at the reason, but it was a comfortable, appreciative blush and Jin was all the more pleased at the mirror of it on Ahn-Bo’s own face. “I slept well,” Jin nodded. “I think that was the first time I’ve slept through the night in awhile,” he admitted. “Also because you were here.” His fingers settled on the thread unconsciously as if determined to hold Ahn-Bo close. The fear that he could slip away at any moment had not seemed to pass overnight and Jin wasn’t willing to take any chances. He’d never imagined how easy (or how horrendously painful) losing Ahn-Bo once could be; he certainly didn’t know what he’d do if he had to go through it again, unprepared.

But that was as far as his clinginess managed to go because the need to get up was starting to nag. Jin frowned and rolled over onto his back. (If he had to go, he couldn’t imagine what pressing down on Ahn-Bo’s bladder must be doing.) It felt vulgar to complain that he didn’t want to get up and relieve himself, so he bit back the sentiment and grabbed whatever over layers were closest within reach of the bedroll. His fingers snagged on one of Bo-ah’s borrowed ones. Draping it over his shoulders rather than bothering to dress, Jin forced himself up and outside to do his business with a little excuse that he’d be back.

Outside, the sun was starting to climb higher into the sky and the mountain was waking. Birds chirped and the sound of a stream burbled nearby. It was a relatively nice day out, even if it was sunny, because the trees provided ample shade for him to hide from the rays. Jin busied himself with what he needed to do some distance from the cave and then returned with a bit of a smile on his face. He clung to the sleeves of the outer layer still draped over his shoulders, but once back inside, he began to tidy up their dishes from the previous evening.

Bo-ah,” Jin hummed lightly as he did so. “We should go for a walk later. I want to see what herbs are growing nearby.” It was a curiosity more than any kind of real necessity, but movement would be important for his aein’s recovery. And while being curled up in this cave for the next three days in one another’s arms was likely, they still needed to diversify. At least a little.
