Minister of Magic Ozymandias Dempsey has named his predecessor, Mr. Justin Ross, as interim head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. The announcement comes following the abrupt resignation of both the deaprtment's head and assistant head last week, and amidst a mysterious crisis in Irvingly.

"Given the critical work of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, we felt the necessity both to avoid gapping leadership positions and to be thorough and thoughtful in the search for replacements," Minister Dempsey stated. "I trust former Minister Ross will prove an excellent steward of the department he previously lead and will enable us to have full confidence in our next Department Head and Assistant Head when they are appointed."

It is a position Mr. Ross previously held from 1883 until 1887, following more than a decade of lower-level leadership within the department.

When asked for comment on the matter, Mr. Ross replied, "I'm grateful for Minister Dempsey's trust and will work to ensure that the Department of Magical Law Enforcement has cohesion in this time and in selecting replacements for their higher leadership."

Though there is no formal word on a timeline for a more permanent replacement, a source within the Office in the Minister suggested that Minister Dempsey wished to have the matter resovled "quickly, but correctly".
