Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ

Uncle Anthony,

Mama says you’ve come back to England to visit. Why haven’t you come to see us yet? It’s dull here without you. Mama won't let me, Tony and Arthur wrestle in the house anymore, and what else is there to do? Nothing. The answer is nothing.

Don’t go visiting everyone else first. Uncle Reg and Aunt Tillie can wait. They've seen you for way more years than I've been alive. Come here. Pick me up. I do miss you, you know.

Love,
Charlie

My dear Charlie,

I have only just returned today and already I am remiss in seeing you! I will be imposing myself for dinner this evening, if your mother will have me. Do let her know, will you?

As for that bit about wrestling in the house, it really isn't gentlemanly anyhow. Have you been practicing your Quidditch? That's a much better expense of your energy! I'll challenge you to a race next time we are all home. Do you think you can beat me yet?

always, your Uncle Anthony

Uncle Anthony,

I let Mama know, and she is having an extra place set for you.

As for wrestling... I guess you're right. I have been practicing Quidditch. Nearly every day since the weather turned fine, in fact. My flying’s better, and I’m faster too. You’ll see. I’ll accept your challenge, and I know I can beat you, so best come prepared. I think I might try out for quidditch this year, anyway.

Love,
Charlie

Charlie,

Excellent! I will see you this evening then and we can chat about tryouts and some things to practice. Perhaps we can go to Quality Quidditch Supplies this week.

see you soon,
Uncle Anthony

Charlie crinkled the paper in his hands as he read the letter; he was going to make Uncle Anthony take him somewhere and buy a new broom, mostly to make up for being late. Until then, he paced around the house, anxiously awaiting dinner. It didn't make sense to write again, simply because his uncle wouldn't get the letter until after he came to dinner.
