Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Had it really come to this? Passing Charles Macmillan back and forth like an upright booby prize?

cut off a little slack and roll all of your calvary back

The other woman had a point. The building was old, but not old enough to be dilapidated; Apollonia would never let it get to that sort of state. She made a mental note to send for the repairman (whose name escaped her — Mr. Williams? Mr. Quillian?) once the holidays were over. The building would hopefully not collapse into a pile of rubble until then. Given the disasters that Hogsmeade was prone to, she also made a mental note to see if a few stabilizing charms could be refreshed at some point if she had money in the budget.

In the middle of her thinking, her customer’s request reached her and she gave her a pleasantly surprised double take before a small grin took over her features. While she’d wanted to give her workers the night off, a few had insisted upon coming in to work so she wasn’t all on her lonesome, which meant she actually did have time to give herself a little respite. “Oh, go on then,” She released the glasses in her hands, motioning them to head to the kitchen before she wiped her hands on her apron and pulled out the chair at the table. It wasn’t the first time she’d been asked to have a drink by a customer, but it certainly was the first time she’d been asked to have a drink by this customer.

“Now remind me darling, what’s your name?” She asked. “I know I’ve seen you around before.”
