“Certainly not,” Saffron affirmed with a weak laugh. Of course, the caliber of her response had nothing to do with the man who was so kind as to make her a cup of tea and everything to do with the reason she found herself at the hospital tonight. She stifled a yawn to no avail and covered her mouth to try and at least put on an air of respectability. She thought he might leave her to her own devices after that, but he stayed as if playing hostess and she found herself quite touched at his kindness.
“I am, yes.” She replied, not minding to make a little small talk in exchange for the gesture. “My father is…not doing well, so my siblings and I are here to try and -” she submitted to another yawn. “Boost morale.”
