Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Had it really come to this? Passing Charles Macmillan back and forth like an upright booby prize?

Graphics & Associated Services [Lou]

Hello, I have been building my photoshop skill via skillshare and this is going to be the place where I offer my services and subject you to my artistic endeavors Smile

Services on offer:

Image research:
- sourcing play-bys: I have a trove of faces that are outside the main hollywood bubble and am happy to help looking
- image upscaling: I have a powerful upscaler (paid software) and am able to upscale low res pics for you

Sets:
I am dabbling in collage! See below.
Imo the fun thing about collage is that you can source modern images and put them in victorian outfits and add a lot of imagery to compose very individual graphic sets.
BEWARE! These are my first attempts (I did not make my av). I am happy with them rn but hope you will see me improve over time.

I am looking for people who offer their play bys for me to make practice sets with and then give constructive feedback on the result.
No expectation to use them, but I think it would help me to stick with this.

Looking for tips on layering and typography!
Do you do the letters in photoshop? What fonts do you use? How do you achieve the soft layered look that is popular on the forum?

Things I have found useful:
Using composition aids. I used a transparent overlay of a fibonacci spiral for todays composition. I also use the golden ratio for my Avs.
This site for vintage images in the public domain.

Issues I've run into:
- compression if the source material is very large or small
- readability of text
- using the same image in sig and av can look weird. I wanted to make a corresponding av but abandoned the project because it did not look right.
- I have no clue how to use brushes in photoshop - the same brush randomly gives different results

Goal for the next one: figuring out gradient maps

Below is todays project, a sig for Sam.
I pulled material from five different sources. Head and body are from different images (both of mads tho).
