Head Constable Slain in Illegal Duel
Werewolf Tensions Suspected Cause
On the afternoon of July 30th, an illegal duel took place in Padmore Park. Apparently the dispute was over recent werewolf tensions and people accusing one another of being afflicted with lycanthropy. Raised voices and wands attracted the attention of other park goers first, before the constabulary and subsequently, the ministry, were called in. First to respond was Chief Constable Rhys Gallagher. Attempts to diffuse the situation were futile and spells were fired off.
Unfortunately, a deflected curse struck the Chief Constable, killing him in the process as he tried to protect nearby bystanders. The men involved in the duel have been arrested and further investigation is underway. Those in the park that afternoon are encouraged to reach out to the Department of Magical Law Enforcement directly with information regarding the incident.
There will be services for family and close friends of the Chief Constable within the following week. Mr. Gallagher is survived by his wife, Mrs. Zinnia Gallagher, and young daughter, Emery.
