Family:
Walter Brownhill, Father [1842]Appearance:
Her role model and safe haven, no one can compare to her Papa—and moreover, no one will ever be good enough for him. She is simultaneously protective of and reliant on him, and writes to him frequently while at school with her worries.
----- Brownhill, Mother [184X-1882]
Though her mother was never the affectionate sort, she was not a bad mother. She was strong, capable, reliable, and did not leave the world before imbuing her wisdom upon her daughter. Lucy inherited her need for structure and routine, and is very protective of the traditions her mother left behind.
History:Most young ladies strive for society's ideal—a slim but curvaceous figure, long flowing hair, porcelain skin, rosy cheeks, and delicate features akin to those pictured in a portrait of Aphrodite. Lucy has never been an Aphrodite.
She is petite and delicate, but girlishly so; a small bosom, thin figure, and soft features has her frequently mistaken for a girl four years her junior. She once cared for fashion, but has since resigned herself to her black school robes and plain-colored dresses outside of class, believing herself unlikely to garner any sort of admiration. She doesn't wear jewelry or accessories apart from her rounded glasses (which are equally necessary and inconvenient).
Her hair, reddish-brown during the summer months and darker during the winter months, has a slight wave to it and hangs down to her mid-back when left unstyled. Her eyes are a dark brown. She wields her wand with her left hand, but learned to write with her right.
1874 | Lucy is born the first child of Walter and ----- Brownhill after a particularly difficult pregnancy.Personality:
1877 | Lucy is too young to understand that her mother has suffered a miscarriage, but she isn't too young to recognize the sudden shift in her mother's mood. Lucy finds it difficult to play with her mother; her enthusiasm is not met during games, and her mother frequently zones out while Lucy is trying to speak to her.
1878 | Shortly after her fourth birthday, Lucy displays her first sign of magic: breathing life back into a drooping flower.
1882 | Lucy is present the night before her mother dies after a two weeks' battle with an unexpected illness. Heartbroken and confused, Lucy spends the first month in denial. Her mother will come back—she has to. Only when reality sets in does she truly mourn the loss, and she looks to her father, who is equally heartbroken, for support. Her way of mourning is a bit unconventional: she pretends as though her mother never left, and insists upon things being done as they were done before her death. The nightly rituals (such as insisting Papa to kiss Mama goodnight for her or having the table set for dinner where she once sat) eventually fade as time goes on, but they always make an appearance on major family holidays.
