Appearance: Atticus is tall, standing at 6’2”, and well built. He is broader through the chest and shoulders, with the kind of physique that speaks to both disciplined strength and natural presence. His frame is not completely overbearing, but manages to fill whatever room he enters with a blend of elegance and intimidation. His face is strikingly cut with high cheekbones, a strong jaw shadowed by a neatly kept beard and thick mustache. His mouth seems to be perpetually set in a firm and uncompromising line. His eyes are sharp and intense, carrying a constant undercurrent of suspicion and calculation, their piercing gaze is often unreadable yet commanding.
His hair is thick, dark, and carefully swept into controlled waves, lending him a refined air that contrasts with the severity of his expression. The combination of well-groomed hair and sharp features gives him the look of both an aristocrat and devil. To the outside world, he is a man of means and impeccable reputation. While those who know the true works of the wizarding underworld, he is the strong hand of the Ravencrest family: elegant, brutal, and inexorably loyal to oath and legacy. Among the upper class and aristocracy, he plays the gentleman: polished, well-spoken, and unfailingly courteous. He knows how to charm drawing rooms with wit and measured conversation, sipping the finest brandy with his enemies just a few chairs away.
He dresses in the finest tailored garments of the era, favoring long, dark, heavy overcoats of rich wool that frame his commanding shoulders. Beneath, he wears well-fitted clothing of muted but luxurious fabrics, which serve as subtle displays of wealth that emphasize power without ostentation. Every detail of his attire, from the precise fit to the understated quality, speaks of status, control, and refinement. Atticus is right-handed and has his clothing tailored to conceal his wand accordingly. His movements are measured and deliberate, and carry the weight of authority. Even at rest, there is an aura of readiness about him, as though every muscle is attuned to sudden action. His very appearance conveys wealth, discipline, and danger. A man born into power and sharpened by the pursuit of more.
History:
1858 - Atticus is born to Arthur and Lucretia Montague. He is the second son and third child. The family is extraordinarily wealthy, coming from a long line of investors and merchants. From the very beginning, Atticus finds himself at odds with his relatives as he is a sullen and easily disgruntled infant.
1860 - His younger sister and final child of Arthur and Lucretia, Sophia Montague is born. Atticus will go on to develop a brief but intense bond with her.
1862 - Atticus displays his first magical ability by causing his toys to levitate and hurling a wooden horse at his brother. His family interprets this as a violent temper rather than magic's natural unpredictability. His brother plays the victim, further cementing favoritism.
1864 - He befriends the "boy in his closet", which is the spirit of a child who died in the home a century before. They often play together and the ghost makes himself known to no other members of the family. This early encounter leaves a lasting impression and begins his early obsession with death. His brother, Arthur, teases him relentlessly about this and insists it is simply his imagination.
1866 - Sophia dies in a tragic accident. Atticus is convinced she will return as a ghost as his friend had. When this doesn't occur he becomes very confused and distraught.
1869 - Atticus receives his letter to attend Hogwarts. Although the hat struggles for a brief period, he is sorted into Slytherin. and proves to be particularly gifted at Charms.
1870 - He goes on to further prove his academic prowess in his second year and excels in Potions, Defense Against the Dark Arts, and even Arithmancy.
1872 - He becomes highly interested in the Bloody Baron, his past, and the nature of his death. Though he never actually works up the courage to approach him with his questions.
1874 - Although a few years his junior, he first truly notices and instantly develops an obsession with the Ravencrest girl he would later marry. He also comes to severe blows with his brother twice this year, once in a duel that left both permanently scarred, and once at home during Christmas. The family blames Atticus both times.
1876 - Atticus graduates Hogwarts. Under the watchful eye of his father, he begins participating more in the investing and mercantile trade of his family. Despite being brought up for this position, it is short lived. Another violent argument erupts between the brothers, after Arthur goads him into a fight. Atticus nearly curses him and would have had his father not intervened. His father sides with his heir, and Atticus exiles himself from the family to avoid being formally disowned.
1877 - His brother vanishes under suspicious circumstances and is presumed dead. Arthur and Lucretia conveniently grieve themselves to death. As the only surviving son, Atticus inherits the family fortune - which is largely tied up in investments and real estate. Isadora exiles herself out of fear and marries a man in a distant county, she effectively becomes non-entity in his life.
1878 - 1882 - Atticus' relationship advances remarkably with his future wife. He is wed and forms an Unbreakable Vow with her. It is one of loyalty, and not only to her but to the Ravencrest family. He forsakes his own surname and any remaining familial ties. Feeling more at home and driven among the macabre and romantic elegance of the Ravencrest brood. He throws himself willingly and passionately into the family business, whatever it might be. His children are born, and though forever the disciplinarian, Atticus proves to be an unexpectedly affectionate father.
1886 - He pours a substantial amount of personal funds into the funerary branch of the business, increasing both its size and scope of operations and further establishing a cover for the family.
1887 - 1894 - Atticus uses his resourcefulness and connections to further carve out the Ravencrest empire. He becomes instrumental in expanding their shadowy trades, illicit investments and other crimes to generate vast amounts of income. Having long ago established himself as cold and competent killer, his direct involvement in these sort of affairs reach a fever pitch during these years.
1895 - Recognizing the tensions and embarrassment caused by the antics of The Speaker, Atticus begins to wonder about the future direction of the family. For now, he waits patiently and plans other avenues of expansion while doing damage control when necessary.
Personality:
He is a product of the house that Salazar built. He grew up believing that power was never given, but taken, and he honed his talents accordingly. He is enthusiastic in his pursuits and not merely content to maintain the Ravencrest family's wealth and reputation, but eager to expand them and to test boundaries. He strives to reinvent cruelty with flair that borders on artistry. When others would hesitate, he advances with confidence, convinced that boldness is its own shield.
The Ravencrest family's bond with their dead is more than superstition—it is business, tradition, and for Atticus; it is obsession. He relishes every opportunity to stand before the ghosts of those who have passed on. He thirsts for their advice and craves their approval like a man starved to the brink of his own demise. He is known to spend endless nights, ravenously pouring over ancient tomes if only to better understand the spirits to which he speaks, and to afford them their proper respect. As far as he is concerned, they are his guides and the hammer that forges his destiny and the destinies of all those that follow in his bloodline.
He is merciless in business and mercurial in mood. Those who cross him rarely get a second chance. Disappearances follow in his wake—enemies, traitors, and even allies who prove inconvenient. He does not rant nor rage when betrayed; he simply removes the obstacle, cleanly and decisively—leaving no trace but a chilling silence. Yet when in a good humor, he can be dazzling company, his enthusiasm is infectious, his charm can be intoxicating. It is this duality that makes him so dangerous: one never knows whether he will raise a glass in your honor or quietly sign your death sentence.
His loyalty is absolute, but only to his wife, the family bloodline, and its ancestors. Everyone else is either a tool or a threat. To Atticus, power must be subtle but visible, not just wielded—but one must also display control from time to time. Legacy matters above all else; his actions are measured, not only by profit but also by their impact and by how they will be remembered.
