Did You Know?
One of the cheapest homeless shelters in Victorian London charged four pennies to sleep in a coffin. Which was... still better than sleeping upright against a rope? — Jordan / Lynn
If he was being completely honest, the situation didn't look good, but Sylvano was not in the habit of being completely honest about anything. No reason to start now.

Birthdate: May 17, 1815
Current Age: 80
Gender: Female
Occupation: Slytherin House Matron
Reputation: 9
Dorothy is an upstanding member of the community, a widowed grandmother with six grown children and many grandchildren. That said, she was always a bit hands-on with her children's upbringing, and the same with their children.
Residence: Primarily, Hogwarts, though her summers are spent at her second son's home in North Bartonburg, Hogsmeade
Hogwarts House: Slytherin
Wand: Twelve inches precisely of natural maple wood with a core of unicorn tail hair
Blood Status: Pureblood
Social Class: Middle

Sister: Edith née Sambridge (b. 1821)

Additionally, Dorothy has several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and, likely, great-grandchildren.
Appearance:
General |
A beautifully-aged woman, Dorothy Price's sandy gray hair, wrinkled features, and dark brown eyes speak to a life well lived. She stands five feet, three inches in height, has a slim build, and is right-handed in all things.

Expressions | Well past the point of giving a damn what anyone thinks of her, Dorothy is quick with a smile, a laugh, a frown, or a searing gaze. She sees little point in concealing her emotions any longer, though she can keep herself contained when full decorum is called for.

Deportment | She carries her tension in her shoulders, but in all things, she is elegant.

Fashion | Though she isn't one to follow the latest trends any longer, Dorothy's wardrobe speaks to her widowhood — she favors grays and lilacs over brighter colors most days, though she does own a couple of brighter dresses for celebratory occasions such as birthdays and weddings.

Accessories | Dorothy is forever grateful to her daughter for ensuring a pendant was made of Thomas's gray hair; she wears it every day, even on celebratory days, and occasionally fidgets with it when nervous.

Scent | Rose and violet.

Face Claim | Lin Shaye
History:
sometimes the most beautiful things
the most innocent things
1815Dorothy Elodie Sambridge was born on a spring day, the first child of Henry and Catherine Sambridge. She is a fussy babe, but she is wholly healthy.
1817Dorothy's first brother, Edward, is born. Dorothy doesn't really have much awareness of her brother, as she is barely two when he is born, but she does notice the attention shifting off of herself.
1818A second brother arrives, Gerard, very soon after Edward.
1820A third brother is born and named Jeremy. Now, Dotty is getting a little frustrated — as the only daughter with three younger brothers, she doesn't understand why she doesn't have a baby sister. She has a long talk with the nanny about asking strange questions of her mother.
1821Finally, Dotty isn't the only daughter anymore! Little Edith arrives a bit ahead of schedule, and Dotty is overjoyed, especially since she herself is now six years old.
1823Dotty's first act of magic occurs during an argument with Edward, during which he continuously pulled her hair. She ends up levitating him almost to the ceiling, which is how the governess finds them.
1826When Dotty receives her acceptance letter to Hogwarts, she and her family are thrilled. Mother takes her shopping personally, purchasing Dotty's first owl — a handsome male eagle owl.

1826-28
First Years
Dotty is initially surprised to be sorted to cunning and ambitious Slytherin, but as time goes by, she proves to fit in almost too well in the house of the serpent. Her stubborn nature and ruthless streak are surprisingly nurtured.
1828-31
OWL Years
Wisely, Dotty selects Arithmancy as her elective, and proves to excel in the course. Were she a man, perhaps she might've even become a professor — but she was born a daughter. Her only happy future lies in marriage, or so her mother has instilled in her.
1831-33
NEWT Years
Her OWLs are exceptional, and Father for once looks at her with appraisal — but she is destined for a life as a wife and mother regardless, if by law now rather than by choice. She continues on with only Arithmancy, Charms, History of Magic, and Transfiguration.
she rules her life like a bird in flight
and who will be her lover?
1833Dotty graduates and enters the marriage market, whereupon she meets Thomas Price, firstborn son and inheritor of his recently-deceased father's properties. A landlord, with a number of properties across magical London. They quickly enter into a courtship, quicker than they probably ought have.
1834Easter 1834 sees Thomas Price paying a call to the Sambridge household by Floo, inquiring after a private conversation with Dotty's father, Henry. Almost immediately after the conversation concludes, Thomas returns to the drawing room where Dotty and Edith wait and asks for her hand in marriage. Startled, the first word out of Dotty's mouth is, "What?" Then, once she realizes it's real, she follows it with an emphatic yes.
1835A week before Christmas, Dotty and Thomas marry and take their leave to honeymoon in Paris.
would you stay if she promised you heaven
will you ever win?
1836Dotty's first child, a daughter, is born. She and Thomas mutually decide to name her Abigail, though they have no plans on keeping a naming tradition. Like Dotty herself, Abigail is a healthy but fussy babe.
1838A son! Thank Merlin, Dotty's second child is a son! After careful deliberation on names, Dotty and Thomas agree to name their firstborn son Benedict.
1840Another girl arrives and is named Emily.
1841A second son is born, given the name Hudson.
1843Surprise! Dotty gives birth to identical twin daughters. With no known twins in her immediate family, she is very shocked at the birth. Thomas's mother reveals that she is, herself, an identical twin — though her twin died in early childhood. Dotty and Thomas name the girls Tabitha and Teresa.
1844-83A mostly uneventful period of Dotty's life, where her children grow, attend Hogwarts, marry, and begin to build their own families. Her father dies of a sudden illness in February of 1875, which sets the household into mourning, but he lived a full and happy life, so there is less weeping for him. The family does not fully uproot from London during the muggle riots of 1877, instead splintering into groups — three of Dotty's children take to Hogsmeade, while the rest remain in London.

waiting for the spring to turn into the fall
1884The Laughing Plague strikes hard — and separates Dotty and Thomas for good. He had been visiting one of their daughters in Hogsmeade, while Dotty kept watch over their eldest son in London, when the quarantine began. Thomas falls ill and dies, leaving Dotty a sudden widow. And she didn't even get to say a proper goodbye, though once the quarantine breaks and all illness is gone, her daughter pays a visit, informing her that Thomas's last words were a plea for her to be happy.
1885-86The full mourning years. She does not go into partial mourning until the two years of formal mourning are technically finished.
1887-94The partial mourning years. During this time, Dotty turns her attention to her grandchildren, ensuring they are doing quite well.
1895When word reaches Dotty's ears that the Slytherin house matron position has come available, she's quick to submit her application — though she's not exactly the first applicant. She packs up her essential belongings and moves into the lodgings September first 1895, prepared to educate the young girls of Slytherin House on how to behave properly. After all, she raised four daughters with minimal help from a governess.
