One of the cheapest homeless shelters in Victorian London charged four pennies to sleep in a coffin. Which was... still better than sleeping upright against a rope? — Jordan / Lynn
If he was being completely honest, the situation didn't look good, but Sylvano was not in the habit of being completely honest about anything. No reason to start now.

Alexandra didn't need magic! She needed a hand! Much like that poorer man was offering to the maid who'd fallen. Deciding wholly against trusting the young and quiet debutante, she reached over to the sand-man's arm to steady herself as she yanked her skirts from the mess.

Eun-ho tried to recover herself but the slip had been spectacular. She scrunched up her nose at the ground as she tried to figure out how best to proceed. Embarassed was not exactly the rightt word for what Eun-Ho was feeling. The word mortified felt like a better fit and angry at herself and her own clothing.

She turned and stared at man who offered her his hand in order to assist her up and as he spoke she frowned.

Her English... wasnt bad... as she had to be able to get by in the world and she thought she'd been following the events with some fluency but had he just told her she smelled...nice? Eunho opened her mouth and said the first thing that came to her mind:

"What day is it?"

Declan, already mortified, blinked at the woman's strange question. "Monday," he said. Heat was spreading through his face, and he was fairly confident he was blushing. He hauled her to her feet.

The other man's handkerchief was going towards the water! Declan drew his wand, and cast a freezing spell, causing the handkerchief to halt its path at the edge of the boardwalk.

The socialite proceeded to flail about and grab at someone else. Eleana's mind flashed to the worst case scenario in which she muttered the spell wrong, hitting both individuals, only for Eleana to faint by the sight of what magical mishap were to take place in the aftermath.

Blinking, Eleana lowered her wand with a huff. "Merlin's beard, ma'am. You must make everything more difficult for the rest of us, mustn't you?" How was it that a woman that was certainly older than herself was far less mature? The noise from this scene was certainly to be heard for anyone, or anything, to be drawn to. Noise... what was that sound?

As it turned out, the noise was Don Juan letting out a strangled hollar as things took a dramatic turn. The handkerchief froze in mid-tumble, creating unanticipated resistance for his foot. At the same time, the woman unexpectedly grabbing his arm threw his balance off. He started to slip, going headfirst off the boardwalk and into the waves and taking the poor woman with the ruined dress with him. Only his foot was still stuck — whatever had stopped the handkerchief seemed to have got his boot in the crossfire. So while she ended up in the surf, he ended up dangling upside down by one foot, submerged in the waves from his shoulders up.

Spellwork, no doubt? Don Juan struggled to get his head above water to call out finite incantatum — nevermind that he didn't have a wand drawn, it was better than doing nothing — but didn't have the abdominal strength to manage it entirely. He did get his head out of the water, but only long enough to dribble seawater incoherently before letting his head fall under again.

Monday? Eun-ho blinked, flummoxed at the answer and his rather red face and played back the question she'd asked. Ahhhhh... She'd gotten the words wrong again. She was about to correct herself and tell him she meant to say 'What did you say?' when she was hauled, rather quickly to her feet and left rather breathless by the action.

Unfortunately.... she wasn't given the time to catch her breath when everything took an unexpected turn. The man ended up dangling from a floating hankerchief with his torso and head in the water, the yelling woman had been completely thrown in. Eunho's head spun at the chaos. Surely ? Her knees threatened to buckle the urge to be not-Eunho but her otherself overtook her. Was she about to have a panic attack? She wanted the boys here. Her Boys. Jin. She wanted Jin.

She wasn't an altrustic person. That had been something that beaten out of her long ago. If she stepped out of her way for others it rarely ended well for her. She wanted to be her Other self. Her tiger. She let her knees buckle and she sunk down to the ground. This was not going to end well. No. No. No.

Two of them were in the water, and the maid was back on her knees. Declan's mouth opened. This was all too much, and he couldn't swim. "This is what conservatives think suffrage is going to cause," he muttered to himself — he was thinking of Tess, probably to find some approximation of bravery.

"I'll get help!" he shouted, and sprinted down the boardwalk to find some staff.

What in Merlin's name was going on?! Eleana watched in horror as the gentleman who had at least some competence now fell with the deranged socialite into the water. No, now the poor man was partially submerged in the water. By his head. Bloody hell! Before Eleana could fully react, the other gentleman was muttering about 'suffrage caus-'ing this?! One look of disgusted bewilderment was all Eleana graced his retreating figure before rushing to the other man's aid.

She knew a bit about swimming. With her mother's travels, it was smart in the case of an emergency. Both her mother and her godfather made sure that she was of some competency at least in that aspect. Eleana rushed to the edge of the boardwalk and carefully lowered herself to lean over. Haste was key. She could see her reflection in the waves below and it made her stomach drop. It was one thing to get sprayed on the boardwalk by the sea serpent, but it was a certainly another to risk being in the water with the creature. She looked away from the reflection quickly to attempt to pull the poor man out of the water. At least enough so he could breath.

A hand grabbed at his lapels, presumably trying to help him up. Don Juan rallied his strength and tried to fold himself upwards again, and with the assistance he did manage to almost get within grabbing distance of the edge of the boardwalk — but then his foot, wedged at an odd angle in his boot and now being flexed in his attempt to scramble back to safety, slipped free of its hold. No longer anchored to the dock, he fell into the water below... and hit the sandy bottom beneath, because it turned out it wasn't very deep. Or at least it wasn't very deep now; his handkerchief may have been contributing somewhat to that by still dribbling sand down from the boards above.

He splashed wildly as he righted himself, his sock-clad foot slipping deep into the wet sand. His mother was going to be irate about his losing shoes again.

The woman he'd accidentally — well, absolutely ruined, frankly — was nearby in the water. He offered her an arm, under no illusions at all that she would take it from him no matter how badly in need she was. "You'll be smelling pleasantly of sea air the entire week," he remarked blithely. Assuming they vacated the water before being eaten by a sea monster, of course. But sea monsters probably didn't go in waist-deep water.

Eunho's panic raged in her ears as the man who had originally helped her to her feet raced off with an exclamation that he was off to get help, and she felt absolutely wrecked by her inability to help strangers. The remaining woman raced towards the man in her attempt to help and he got free. She wasn't needed here.

A flash of inspiration overtook Eunho.

She. Wasn't. Needed. Here.

Her fingers sought her wand. She'd get yelled at by the Master for sure but she couldn't help it. She'd just come back later that day.

With a snap and a crack she Apparated Away. To a far better place to be.

It was working, he was rising... until it truly wasn't. The man slipped out of her hands and the force pulled Eleana into an incredibly uncomfortable position. Her breath became hard to catch as her bosom pressed into the boardwalk. Eleana could hear the wheezing as she frantically scrambled to shuffle herself backwards into a safer position. The man seemed alright, she could hear him talking. That was a good sign. Her efforts weren't entirely wasted. Eleana continued to shuffle until she could safely turn over onto her back. Then she began coughing. Goodness, perhaps that hadn't been the best plan.

Where... where did the other woman go? She vaguely glanced around as she tried to catch her breath. The other woman was nowhere to be seen. Well, plenty of help she had turned out to be. Eleana's chaperone had made her way over by this point and was fretting over her. Partly chiding her for being reckless, too. Could anyone really blame her? A man was practically drowning! She waved her chaperone off as she tried to gain her mental footing.

Lynn is wrapping, so I'll just leave the roll to future posting Kelly <3

The sea serpent showed its spiny fin one last time on the horizon, but between the commotion they'd caused and the thunderous herd of footsteps coming down the hill (help arriving, presumably) it seemed to have no desire to linger.

The woman he'd accidentally tossed into the water found the ladder up to the pier before he did. Not only did she not want his help, but apparently she didn't need it. He was at risk of feeling sheepish, which was odious to him, and there was no chance of a drink in his future to wash away the embarrassment. So he settled for being belligerent instead: when the staff from the Sanditon arrived at the boardwalk to ask what had happened he was sprawling soaked on the boardwalk planks with the disposition of a sunbather.

"No, no trouble," he told them with a blase wave of his hand. "Just came out to feel the shrimps, as one does."
