Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Had it really come to this? Passing Charles Macmillan back and forth like an upright booby prize?

The Last Hurdle [Hobbyist Potions]
#1
January 25th, 1895 — Hogsmeade Hall

"I shan't go easy on you," Gideon's warning to his cousin was a teasing one as he made his way to face the two competitors. It seemed rather silly—far too grand—to have him stand before them like this when it was just the two, but the healer did not make the rules.

"A final challenge for you both," he announced. "A potion for dreamless sleep. I trust both of you are up to the challenge, having it made it thus far and so, I see no cause for further ado!"

Please do not assume success—that's what the dice are for ;) First to post will get a small bonus.

Phil, for his part, managed to keep a straight face at Gideon, which he thought ought to earn him extra points. Something about sportsmanship.

He settled into brewing the potion, trying to be extra careful, if only to not make a fool of himself now. When he was done, he took a step back from his cauldron to await judgment.

Her jaw tightened , her success thus far less rewarding than she wished. She knew this potion well, had needed it more and more of late. Still, she gave her fullest attention to her work. Just one more time.

Both potions were completed to an incredibly high standard, as was to be expected from finalists in a competition of this nature. Ultimately, though, it was his cousin's brew who had the edge; Gideon complemented both participants for their good work before declaring Phil the victor.
