A Gryffin's feast - Benedict Hunter - September 3, 2025

September 1st, 1895 - Gryffindor table at sorting

So Benedict had failed to achieve head boy, he was a little dissapointed of course but Whymper was a good man and he would proudly shake his hand and congratulate him later in the feast. But the loss came with one great benefit. He was not distracted from his duties to his house, he was a seventh year prefect for his house, he could be a leader amongst his own clan and as such he, along with his female partner would make sure to be the first to congratulate the newest members of the house.

"Well done, and welcome to Gryffindor! He said warmly, standing to guide the students to the spots that the house had picked picked out for them. "You won't find a better group of students in the school, I'm Ben Hunter, take a seat, please." he added, hoping that they incomers might introduce themselves and his housemates might be equally warm.

RE: A Gryffin's feast - Lysander Echelon - September 4, 2025

Lysander had tried to convince himself, on his way up, that the sorting hat did not make mistakes. But now that he was sorted, he thought it was wrong — because it had stuck him in Gryffindor. Gryffindors were brave — Lysander was not brave, because surely brave people did not spend all their time calculating how to manage to talk to strangers.

But telling the hat in front of all those strangers that it was wrong seemed just as horrible as being a Gryffindor for seven years, so he walked to the table, eyes wide, and sat down in one of the empty seats as indicated by one of the older, taller boys.

"Lysander Echelon," he managed, quiet.

RE: A Gryffin's feast - Toby Seacoal - September 5, 2025

"Nice to meet you Echelon!" Toby grinned from across the table. "Promise not to eat you. Even if it is taking forever to get to dinner." He clutched his stomach dramatically, pulling a face and pretending to die of starvation. Seriously did the sorting always take this long.

RE: A Gryffin's feast - Ariel Sherington - September 8, 2025

Ariel practically floated her way to her table filled with the excitement of being a Gryffindor. She hadn't known what house she was going to be in (actually if she'd been honest she would've thought she'd end up in Dunstan's Hufflepuff) however Gryffindor had certainly been a surprise - and the hat seemed to have decided in less than a minute! It was amazingly fast compared to quite a few of her other yearmates.

She also couldn't help but be glad to be in the brilliantly coloured red and gold. The colours certainly drew the eye and looked certainly more cheery than the gloomy and cold greens, silvers, blues and browns and whilst Hufflepuff was yellow the black also seemed designed to make one look a bit like a bee and not a cheery one at all. In her reds and yellows she certainly wouldn't be disappearing into the background!

"Can I sit here?" She asked pointing to another empty seat near another boy who had been sorted before her. He seemed to have already started a convesation with two older boys as well.

Benedicts greeting was warm, and once the new members had been seated he stood up and tapped his glass.

"So, before our wonderful Prof Lyra gets their first, I'd like to properly welcome Lysander, Ariel, (he lists several other NPC names before looking like losing track)... oh wow, so many new faces, I'm sure I'll remember you all by the end of the week." he let out a laugh and one of the other older Gryffindor boys jabbed him in the ribs with an elbow.

"And its good to see so many people coming back after their OWLs, even you Fletcher." he raised his glass at James Fletcher there was more mirth amongst the table. His simple speech was interrupted with the head table casting the feast spell and piles of food arriving in front of them. "Well tuck in everyone, cant let it all go to waste. Cheers!" he raised his glass before downing it and then sitting himself down to tuck into the most glorious breakfast sausage. He gave Mr. Seacoal a grin at his comment about considering eating the newcomers, probably best avoided.

"Finally!" Toby dug into the appearing food with relish. Shooting a grin at the first years. "Looks like your safe for now." He told them, "Mind, I was awfully hungry and can't promise anything if there had been a hatstall." He shoveled mashed potatoes on his plate. Food at the castle was always better than what he had at home.

"Try the ham." He told the girl across from him mid bite into his own ham, not minding that he ought not to chew and talk at the same time. It was the first meal away from home and the freedom from his mother's ever present rules was wonderful.
