and i wish i could know you much more sometimes - Rosalie Hunniford - August 20, 2025

Were she not in a rush, Rosalie would have spent the time necessary to rewrite her brief note to Noble. As it stood, her next patient was expecting her in only a few minutes and she feared allowing too much time to pass without following through on her promise to write. She still had too many questions and had already dwelt upon his rushing towards the gardens for too many hours to allow the promise of writing to go unfulfilled.

And so, after ensuring her scratch outs were entirely illegible, Rosalie neatly folded the note and passed it off to her personal owl waiting by the window.

Nobl- Mr. Greengrass,
I must apologize for abandoning you to the creature once again. The exhibit was entirely distracting and I nearly forgot an appointment with a recovering patient. Were you able to find the creature's family? Did you discover what it was? I must admit to my curiosity about its attachment to you.

As discussed, here are the supplies I need to replenish my stores. A youngster recently attempted to brew a complex beautification potion for her friends and there has been an epidemic of ... unfortunate consequences to say the least.

Miss Hunniford,

I hope your patient is doing well. I did find others of the creature; it is apparently a 'dik dik', and also full grown. Very unclear as to why it liked me so much, though.

I can brew these by Friday. Would you prefer delivery by mail, or will you come to Bartonburg?

Mr. Greengrass,
She is, thank you. It's been a long road of recovery.

A dik-dak? Now I'm going to have to visit the library to find out more. What was Mr. Nott doing with a dik-dak?

Whichever option is easier for you is fine with me. I have this Saturday off so can make myself available then, or I can send Althaea (my owl) to pick them up.

Miss Hunniford,

Dik dik, not dik dak. I'm not sure what he's doing with it, but they're apparently from the bushland of Africa.

You can come by tomorrow. I'll be here all afternoon.
