Current Age: 34
Gender: Female
Occupation: Hufflepuff House Matron
Reputation: 9
Residence: Hogwarts / Galway
Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff
Wand: 10 ½” fir, phoenix feather, flexible
Blood Status: halfblood
Social Class: middle
Family:
Angus Magee | [18xx-1882] fatherAppearance:
Deirdre Magee née - - - [18xx-1884] motherSean Magee | [1850ish] brother & family
Cillian Magee | [1853] brother & family
Fionn Magee | [1857] brother & family
Aiden McCarthy | [1854-1884] husbandNiamh McCarthy [May 1881] daughter
Eilish McCarthy [March 1883] daughter
History:Overall, her appearance is youthful and sweet. Motherhood and age have rounded Fiona out since her youth. She was always considered “voluptuous” for her short frame of 5”, but after giving birth twice, she has settled into a permanently curvaceous shape. Big, bright blue eyes and long lashes accentuate a round face with full lips that are always smiling. She has light blonde hair that tends to fall in soft waves, though she tucks it back neatly at the base of her neck most of the time. Generally, she carries herself with confidence and approachability, hoping to appear easy to talk to and genuine. Her step is normally bouncy and bubbly, though not very quick. She prefers lighter hues after her mourning period ended, knowing they compliment her warm skin tone better than anything too bright. Her style is very plain and matronly, as befitting her station and situation in life. She is right handed for wand work and writing.
Personality:
1859
A DaughterFiona Celine joins three older brothers. A robust and healthy babe, she quickly becomes to apple of her mother’s eye; Deirdre had always wanted a girl. 1860-1870
ChildhoodThe Magee family owns a pub and inn in Galway, Ireland that’s quite popular among locals and travelers alike. Her time is spent roaming around the pub listening to stories and helping keep the place clean. Fee takes to music naturally and can sing quite well, often entertaining in the evenings.. She’s always had a healthy set of lungs on her, even as a babe. She also learns to play the penny whistle from her father. Her brothers go off to Hogwarts and somewhat regular intervals until she is the only one left. Fee has never had a hard time occupying herself or feeling alone; the pub is always full of interesting characters. She learns to bake and spends a lot of time in the pub’s kitchen and also learns a lot of the ins and outs of running a business, even at a young age. Her mother is very involved in the inn and manages most of the books, knowing it’s good for ladies to know how to run both a household and a business. These skills would help her later in life. 1870-1877
HogwartsA quick sort into Hufflepuff, Fee finds herself right at home in the den. Her warm and generous personality has always been at the front of her persona and she makes friends easily. Classes come somewhat naturally to her, though she does not excel at any, she does well enough to continue on with the ones she likes. She adds Divination and Muggle Studies in third year out of pure curiosity, but only continues on with Charms, Transfiguration, Potions, Herbology and Muggle Studies into the NEWT level. Her grades upon graduation are sufficient, but Fee knows she’s just going to go home and help her family with the pub. Largely her Hogwarts experience is quite average. 1877-1879
Post Grad LifeAs expected, Fiona goes back to Galway to help with the inn. Her bubble personality sees her serving various purposes between barkeep, maid and entertainment, she feels very at home and quite content with her current situation. 1880
RomanceAidan McCarthy comes into her life like a gale force wind one evening while traveling through on his way north one February night. He is working on a book about Irish fairy tales and magical folklore and is immediately charmed by Fiona. Their courtship is fast and furious and it’s clear the two are smitten with one another. They marry in the summer of 1880. 1881 Aiden publishes his book and it is wildly successful. He begins working on a second. Niamh is born in May and Fee settles into motherhood quickly. 1882 Fiona’s father falls ill and passes from something severe. Fiona’s oldest brother takes over the inn, but her mother is not the same afterward. Fiona suggests they move to Hogsmeade together for a change of pace and new scenery. 1883 Eilish joins the family and Fiona is just as enthralled with her second babe as the first. 1884-1893
HeartbreakFire, plague and doom. Both Aidan and Deirdre succumb to the Laughing plague. Utterly heartbroken, Fiona packs up her girls and moves back to Galway to be near her brothers and their families. She resumes helping Sean with the inn, picking up where she left off with the books and in the kitchen. Thank Merlin for supportive sisters-in-law and her brothers, she wouldn’t have made it otherwise. Between selling the house, her share in the pub and Aidan’s quick thinking, setting up the book revenue to go to her in the event of his death, she is set financially at the very least. She purchases a small cottage on the outskirts of Galway and raises her girls with their cousins nearby. It’s not easy, but it could be worse. Niamh heads off to Hogwarts in 1892 and though it leaves a hole, Fee knows it’s good for her girls to stand on their own. August 1894 Unable to stand the thought of being home alone, Fee takes a wild leap and decides to apply for the position of Hufflepuff Matron at Hogwarts. With Eilish’s impending departure to the school it feels like a good move, something new. The girls seem to accept her decision and since Niamh is not in Hufflepuff, it won’t be too much. Hopefully.
OtherMATERNAL | APPROACHABLE | KIND | GENUINE
Fiona is about as motherly as one can get. Stemming from having two daughters of her own, her kindness is rooted in the loss of her husband and parents to the fire of 1884. She is sympathetic, empathetic and will willingly do whatever it takes to help someone. She believes the best in people, almost to a fault, and can be blind to those who are taking advantage of her or who are dishonest. Loyal and steadfast, she holds her students’ admissions in confidence, unless someone is in danger. Her advice is usually pretty sage and reserved, giving guidance, but not telling people how to do things that they need to learn to do for themselves. She had a good balance of pointing people in the right direction without paving the way for them to make it too easy. She can sometimes want to get too involved when she sees people struggling or having a hard time, especially socially, but generally waits until students come to her. When she is crossed, she is reasonable, but very good at the Disappointed Mom Guilt.
» Likes to bake, often found in the kitchens with the house elves.
» Will knit a pair of yellow mittens for every first year and is often found knitting in the evenings.
» Her “office” off the Puff Den is very cozy, with a plush yellow sofa; always ready with tea & biscuits.
» Her door is always open and she is always eager to chat.
» Fiona likes to check in with OWL & NEWT students regularly to know how they’re managing stress.
» She has a large, fluffy, dopey, orange tabby cat named Toulouse, who is on his last brain cell, but he’s very sweet.
first time ever, I SPELLED HER NAME WRONG. Please fix XD

August 6th, 1894
To my Mummy and Daddy,
I hope you are well and I really hope that the others are okay too, especially little Richie. I am so sorry for what happened and I hope that one day you can forgive me to come back.
My cousin is lovely to me, I wish I was allowed to tell you all about her but the man that reads my letters says I can't. She is kinder than I deserve but I think she knows how much I don't want to be here. School starts soon, I am so scared, I will try to be a good girl like I promised, but I don't know if I can. I think I have made some friends, a boy and a girl, they are very different. ■■■■■■ is very mean, but she is funny. ■■■■■■■ seems like a posh boy, but he showed me how to skip stones at the lake. I liked doing that.
The man said you can write to me when I am school, please do. I know you might hate me for everything. But I'm frightened, I will try to be better and I don't want to be alone.
I love you
Maggie

In what I believe is a Charming first, I'm going to be running a bingo this month via Google Meet! This, however, is not your nana's bingo: your virtual 'card' will have characters, spells, creatures, etc. from the HP universe, and I'll be offering Jeopardy-style clues rather than shouting out numbers! This counts as 'games night' for Camp Charming!
Let me know which dates/times you think you can make work! Poll closes in one week. Please note that bingo requires a minimum of four participants.

It will be three rounds, different from last time

Hadrian has a substantial menagerie of creatures, but most beloved amongst those are:
Nebuchadnezzar | Pet flying tiger
Ace, Atlas, and Boone | Stolen hounds
Appearance:
Hadrian stands at an average 5’8”, with a generally lean build that no concerted attempt to gain muscle much serves to change. He has delicate, ‘aristocratic’ features (so his mother always used to say, and so he now believes), including a narrow nose, grey eyes, and pale skin that always freckles and never tans. His hair is a medium brown, naturally a little wavy and sometimes groomed short, sometimes long, as with his facial hair: it is never high on his list of priorities. (Theoretical list of priorities. Hadrian doesn’t do lists, generally.) He can dress up for society and dress down for the wilderness, and is happily at home in either. His default expressions are carelessly cheerful, but his standard grins (boyish, impish, self-satisfied) can occasionally turn sneering. He carries himself with a carefree confidence, but at the same time is a relentless fidgeter and rarely finds any joy in sitting still. His wand hand is his left.History:
The Notts are a relatively typical traditional pureblood, upper class family – and in some ways, Hadrian is the typical firstborn son. He is welcomed to the world with great fanfare and pride; he is doted upon (by his nanny, as much as his parents), and becomes a little spoilt as a boy; he gets away with murder (not literally) and is only vaguely aware of the burden of expectations meant to settle on his shoulders one day. Because firstborn sons are generally meant to grow up into dutiful men, and step into the shoes their fathers expect them to, and Hadrian – well, to be honest, Hadrian never changed all that much from the boy.
If he is sad to leave his younger siblings behind at home, that is more than made up for by the opportunity to write home and tell them all about his adventures, as if he is the first eleven year old to ever experience Hogwarts. Other people miss their siblings more: Cordelia Emsworth, for instance. Hadrian, mostly unflappable, makes a point of finding the bright sides for her. But while she is sorted into Gryffindor, he is sent off to Slytherin.
Of course that doesn’t stop them from becoming good friends. Hogwarts expands his worldview in plenty of ways. By third year, he adds Care of Magical Creatures, Ancient Studies and Earth Magic, and decides he is interested in everything out there, at how odd and grand and weird the world is. By sixth year, he keeps Astronomy, Care of Magical Creatures, Charms, Herbology (especially for Cordelia, though he doesn’t say as much), Potions and adds Alchemy to the mix, because Alchemy seems elite and obscure and exciting. Hadrian’s father is currently under the impression his son will be following in his footsteps into an illustrious Ministry career. Hadrian innocently never corrects the poor old fellow’s delusion.
Upon graduating Hogwarts and a first few months of a Grand Tour, Hadrian has decent grades and some wild ideas about what he wants. He returns and announces to his mother that he is engaged to Miss Emsworth (they are dubious: because the Emsworths are eccentrics and halfbloods and Miss Emsworth is studying Herbology; but mostly because Hadrian is far too young to be making big decisions like this, decisions they had been intending on making for him, because this upsets their own plans for his life as the heir. Quite dramatically.)
But things go from bad to worse when Hadrian announces to his father that he is going to make a career out of exploration, never mind if he’s throwing away a future Wizengamot seat with his name on it. He’s going to make his name in other ways. He’s going to become renowned for actually doing things no one has done, setting foot in places no on has ever seen, learning things no one has before, discovering plants and creatures no one has ever seen. Just think of all the things that he could put the Nott name to this way!His father almost certainly has opinions on this, but unfortunately/conveniently he has a heart attack before he can fully express any of them, and his health declines swiftly from there. Hadrian capitalises on this moment of weakness, and runs. Fortunately for Hadrian, his mother is his biggest fan, and has no backbone of her own to speak of: so when he leaves them shortly thereafter to travel the world with Cordelia and her father, she never complains to him beyond the lamentations of but darling, whatever will I do without you?
And Hadrian is too busy to feel remotely guilty, when he is living a life some people only dream of. He and Delia marry in 1883, and while she is the better botanical scholar between them, he is of some help. He stumbles upon new specimens by accident, and if it is not advisable to differentiate rare lesser-known plant specimens by tasting them, it hasn’t killed Hadrian yet. He’s had to be rushed to a healer a few times, but it’s all been fine and dandy in the end.
Travelling over land and sea, they romp through the far regions of the world on proper expeditions of their own, and while Delia studies and presses plant samples, Hadrian battles with boars and lions, moths and seagulls; survives their ship being looted by hiding, cleverly, in a barrel of fish; haggles with merchants for flying carpets and exotic pets, and gets struck by poison darts as he flees from some foreign sacred grounds with valuable new specimens. Once, a trip goes awry and he is separated from Delia and the rest of their expedition caravan. Wounded and wandless and stranded and starving in the desert, Hadrian eventually does what all the best (worst) explorers do, and boils his boots for food. Eventually he stumbles upon an oasis, regains his strength, and makes it back to Delia. And their strange nomadic life continues on, undeterred. Delia writes her field journals; he writes their (his) memoirs, and sends them back to be edited and published in hopes of securing his fame.Maybe fame isn’t his only goal, and he is also striving for a life that is free and is fun. But there have been dismal moments, too – Delia’s miscarriage; a few disasters; some disagreements. It’s not all perfect – not least because since 1885, Cordelia’s sister Cynthia has been tagging along with them. Hadrian agreed to this, once – but he never expected the situation to last forever. And he likes Cynthia sometimes – she is good at the secretarial organising of their collections, note-taking and suchlike; and when Delia had miscarried, Hadrian was endlessly grateful for Cynthia, who brought the fun – but she is also a pain at least half the time, and Hadrian begins to think she’s really just in the way. She and Delia are almost too close: sometimes, when they are sleeping under canvas, removed from all the world, and he can hear the pair of them staying up late and talking half the night, Hadrian considers that maybe he’s the third wheel here.
So, yes, in 1892, he upsets the wrong wizard in India. It happens. And, yes, it’s half his fault Cynthia gets cursed to beetle-dom. But it’s not his fault he and Cynthia were in the midst of a spat there to begin with. And it’s not his fault he doesn’t know how to break the curse and turn her back. And, so, yes, maybe saying things like maybe this wouldn’t have happened if she had just gone home isn’t generally helpful – but Delia has blamed him from the moment it happened, and they’re not getting anywhere closer to forgiveness. And guess what? If there’s an ultimatum in the moment, Delia chooses her sister once again.
Delia even takes the dogs in the divorce, which, frankly, is unforgivable to Hadrian. Bitterly, he heads home – and because he hasn’t warned anyone he is coming, he gets caught in the Nott grounds as a trespasser and threatened with arrest before Mummy comes along to save him from the staff and smooth things over with his father (yes, he’s her son; yes, he has her invitation to come home).
So he starts getting his life together back in the house in the country where his family still resides. Including bringing back his half of the specimen collection and living menagerie of impractical pets (his father is appalled; his long-suffering, sensible younger brother Titus is also a little appalled; his younger sister Dido is a delight, and is helping him organise the collection; his mother still thinks he’s a delight, whatever he does), and also getting aggressively into taxidermy as a hobby, as any recent divorcée is wont to do. When he’s gathered himself, he’ll go back out on expeditions and discover things – on his own, this time. Maybe in the Arctic. Who knows.
Hadrian is not oblivious to the fact that Cordelia is also back in the country, but he can fight over their home territory as well as anywhere. And he wants his bloody dogs back.
Personality: I don’t know how to put this guy in words yet except to say the sheer scale of his delusional self-belief cannot be adequately contained in this box.

Age: 29

You must know that August isn't quite the same without your presence. And if you were not yet aware, perhaps this letter may serve to inform you. It seems equally unusual that I should have to pen a full letter to a dearest friend, who lives not far away at all, in order to reach her through this mysterious absence she seems to have taken from our lives.
I have finished my latest novel, The Jungle Book, you may recall me mentioning the author. I always enjoy Muggle authors who can paint such a magical world without having any themselves. The characters are very colorful and incredibly human, though most are animals. Some are even wiser than our Hogwarts professors, and I'd ask you not to repeat that to the professors at the castle, please. Levity aside, I felt most deeply for Mowgli, however, he is raised away from mankind among animals, yet he's more truly human than the brutish men in the book. How horrible it would be to live among your own kind and yet feel such closer affinity for others unlike you.
There has been so little else going on, I fear, that a book review had to dominate my letter to you. I know you dislike them, Anne, and humor me well enough. Sometimes the days I spend working for Daffy I would wish to be reading instead, even though that feels dishonest to consider. It didn't feel like such an obligation when the summer began, yet now there are days at the shop when I long to be anywhere else. I suppose I should be happy that I get along with Daffy, and I am helping out family after all. With so many new babies in the family this year, I am disappointed to discover that nursemaid is not a task I am well-equipped for, so it is better to be around plants and flowers that won't screech if I hold them wrong.
This letter seems long enough, so I will end it here. I miss your presence and our conversations, particularly the many insights you bring. Perhaps one will be the subject of what has kept you so tightly hidden away, too.
Millie
P.S. Since you missed our planned gathering for the astronomy homework, Papa says we could make another try of it this weekend if you are able.
P.P.S. My letter from Hogwarts came with a prefect badge, and I haven't had anyone else to tell. No one else in the family was prefect or head student, which came as a shock.
