| Unresolved Elopements From the Pink Letter Scandal! The pink letter scandal, in which numerous citizens of Magical Britain were left enamored of complete strangers—or in the worst scenarios, people they did know! While few cases of accidental (or "non-consensual", which many have argued is a better descriptor) elopements have been reported, even fewer have been resolved! Witch Weekly is giving you a peek into the new lives of these unfortunately newlyweds! Barnabas Skeeter & Maeve Connolly Despite misprints in other publications, it's not factually correct to call the newly-married couple "Mr. and Mrs. Skeeter", as our sources can confirm that the auror has made no efforts to legally change her name! If this isn't enough to give the public insight into the state of their marriage, their tumultuous relationship pre-elopement does the trick! When Mr. Skeeter campaigned for restrictions on female dueling, Maeve Connolly spoke out against him, proclaiming his beliefs as old-fashioned and discriminatory! We can't see a happy future for this couple! Edric Umbridge & February Lynch Unlike the previous couple, these newlyweds have made the best out of an unfortunate situation. Loyal readers may be aware of the history between the new Mr. and Mrs. Umbridge and the rumored affection that existed before their elopement. It would surely explain how the two were matched, and also why they failed to pursue an annulment. The question stills remains: How will the scandal affect the Head Auror—who was only appointed in mid-June of this year!—when his wife has been involved in other scandals, including the elopement of our next couple? Rufus Bixby & Fortuna Lockhart Though not directly a result of the pink letter scandal, we have reason to believe the recent elopement between the new Mr. and Mrs. Bixby was a means of preventing further reputation damage. Mr. and Mrs. Bixby were seen in each other's company—even without a chaperon once or twice!—during the Irvingly fog crisis during the summer. Asha Bilton & Tala Moreno Though by no means notable as individuals, what what this case interesting is who it impacted. Miss Moreno—now possibly known as Mrs. Bilton—was engaged to famed wandmaker Gervaise Ollivander prior to the scandal, and we have every reason to believe the match was dissolved. Mr. Ollivander has been seen looking terribly dreary in London pubs since the incident, a grave reminder that amortentia hurts more than the two under its effects! |
February Umbridge—suited for the head auror's wife? Maeve Connolly—the epitome of an unhappy bride. |
